one reason, one audience

This Saturday, let’s get together to do one thing.

It’s not about the words alone. It’s never about the work.

It’s not because we have a voice.

It’s not even because life is good, or bad, or tough,

or laughable, or [insert your own adjective]

It’s because we have a reason. A darn good one.

We can praise because we know for certain that

we are a generation,

a people that has been loved with the ultimate expression of dedication,

passion and commitment.

We can do it all because He gave it all for us.

See you all there for a landmark moment in our lives.

Come expecting.

standby: exciting life ahead

February 2010.

It’s all passed by in a blink of an eye, hasn’t it?

Recently, I had the chance to meet many people on the verge of starting something completely new in their life. Unfamiliar territories, unseen borders, un-walked paths… they shared about their fears of the unknown and how they would miss the life that they know so well. And while they were excited about what lay ahead, they were also scared.

How do we deal with the fear and stress that daily life brings us? Do we truly believe that there is only one thing needful in the noise of this world? When demands come at us from all sides and our feelings of inadequacy overwhelms us, what can we do?

Remember the word which Moses, the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, ‘The LORD your God is giving you rest and is giving you this land.’ (Joshua 1:13)

Remember.

Right here, right now, the Lord is giving you rest. He has given you the land. Through Him, you have been fully equipped with the wisdom, strength and ability to meet all requirements.

So today, take a love break. Take a step back from being your personal solution and choose to rest at His feet. In Him, we have all sufficiency. We have been made complete for the work, the new life ahead, the adventures that will bring us great joy and fulfillment.

Do you believe?

And if so, are you ready for the exciting life ahead?

rest in a state of emergency

It was an event-filled evening. My son had an accident and we had to rush him to A&E at KK hospital around 10pm tonight. He tripped over something and went sprawling onto the ground, cutting his chin and splitting his tooth (it’s now scary looking and V-shaped).

When we reached KK Hospital, the first waiting room was empty. That was already a miracle. The last time we sent my son to A&E (he had cut his forehead and required stitches) we needed to wait 1.5 hours so getting a consultation so soon surprised me. Then when we got our number to see the doctor himself, they judged our case to be urgent and we by-passed so many other patients in the second waiting room and saw the doctor immediately.

Sitting with the doctor, my son was quiet. The pain had ceased (another miracle) and though his case was urgent, his chin only needed a good cleaning and his tooth will be tended to on Monday. So he gets to show off his injury on Sunday, something which I think he’ll have good fun doing.

All in all, the whole night was a real expression of God’s faithfulness and tender love. More amazing though was that I wasn’t badly frazzled. I kept reminding myself to guard my heart and stay at rest. I can’t do anything with my small hands. But when I cast my cares to God, His hands always mend and heal. He is the God of love. He cares.

And that’s what I wanted to share tonight really. That no matter what happens in life, remember this one thing: Let all that you are remain quiet and at rest before the Lord because your hope is secured in Him. He is your Father and He knows every challenge, every mountain that lies ahead of you. He’s prepared a way of escape and we just need to step back from being our own answer and solution. It is unnatural to let go, but if you’re facing something, try it. Let God be God in your situation.

He is our strong tower and those who run to Him shall be saved.

And that’s truth.

our deepest fear

tree of light

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

why do we dance?

dancing

And those who were seen dancing, were thought to be crazy, by those who could not hear the music.’ – Nietchze

We dance because we hear His victory cry within the the very fibres of our being. We were created to move with His beat, to sway with the rhythm of His very life.

Besides, it’s great fun.

sudden realisation

baby

It was a hard day… and the temptation to give up was strong. I was sharing my challenges with a friend when he said to me, ‘You know, the greatest warrior in the Bible is God. He is the ultimate Warrior.’

And then it hit me.

If the Ultimate Warrior lives in my heart, and if I am His child… then His spirit is my spirit! That makes me a fighter!’

With that, we walk on knowing… We can continue this fight of faith. We can continue to believe in His blessings. We can. And we will.

We were born to fight. And we will stand our ground. Our victory ground.
